Clint Eastwood
Hard man actor,
director and former mayor of his adopted hometown Carmel-by-the-Sea,
California.
I do not agree with his political thoughts, he represents the war mongers the Republicains.
As an actor I
found him good playing the rough, tough cowboy in films such as The Good, the
Bad and the Ugly. He also gained fame as the detective Harry Callahan in the
film Dirty Harry
His best film as
a director was Million Dollar Baby, a film about female boxer. The film won him
an Academy Award for the Best Director. The film itself won another three
Oscars Best Picture, Best Atress (Hilary Swank) and Best Supporting Actor
(Morgan Freeman)

Cycle ride of
the day:
On my round
today I stopped at a house called Blocksberg.

My bicyle, as you can see I'm always on my Cannondale, it's easy to ride and I don't have to wear my racing shoes, they're uncomfortable. |
Until now it was
a house with a nice name that brought back memories: When my children were
small we used to read to them from a series of booklets about the adventures of
Bibi Blocksberg. She is a little girl who plays practical jokes with the help
of magic. Every time I rode past it I told Heike I’d biked past Bibi on my
tour.

The rail stataion and now guest house |
The house as you
can imagine has nothing to do with her. Blocksberg was built as a rail station
when the tracks were laid in 1895. They were built to increase the popularity
of the islands Föhr and Amrum, the islands have always lived in the shadow of
the holiday island Sylt. Traveling time to Föhr or Amrum was shortened by an
hour, it was much more comfortable than traveling from Niebüll to Dagebüll with
the stagecoach and more passengers could be transported at one time.
In 1905 a dairy
for the farms of the area (the Kooge) was built. The dairy products could be
distributed faster to the nearby towns and coal could be transported to fire
the steam engines with the train. In 1929 the dairy closed down.
In 1926 the
narrow-gauge-tracks were replaced with normal-tracks, from then on the trains
from Hamburg could travel direct to Dagebüll without the passengers having to
change trains. The station Blocksberg closed down in 1992 and from then on is a
guest house.
Greetings to Siggi and wife :-)
The rail line from Niebüll to Dagebüll is still running, I've never been on the train, that's one of the todoes on my bucket list.
