12th July 1937

Bill Cosby

A comedian who also has the guts to talk critically about the black or coloured community in the USA.
On the 17th May 2004 during the 50th celebration of the Brown verses The Board of Education court case; the outcome of it helped cancel the segregation in the American schools, he criticized the Blacks forever blaming the Whites for their situation in life.
Here are some extracts from the essay:

"We Can't Blame White People"

They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk: Why you ain't, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be... And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father?

People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up? Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' — or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.

We cannot blame the white people any longer.

You might say that you have seen this before, it could be true; I read the same some weeks ago, but it impressed me so that I had to find the extracts myself and publish them on my blog.
Try reading as if it had nothing to do with race or colour; do you see a resemblance to the world of today, your world? I do!

Thoughts:

Hi everyone, "frisch und fröhlich?" It's Saturdayand it feels like Sunday, I slept in today and didn't get up until nine, since then two hours ago I've only just managed to eat breakfast ands have a shower. Two hours of toil; imagine if everyday was wasted like that; when I stand at the pearly gates and Gabriel asks me what footprint did I leave; I'd say sorry mate, can't rememeber I slept through it! Then again, if I ask myself if I'm happy with my life I'll jump up and say "Yes!!". I stayed in bed this morning because I was tired and didn't have any appointments, it was nice and cosy and gave me a chance to charge up my soul.
How would you like to see some more photos of my hometown Niebüll? Great, here they are enjoy them, if you've got the time: come around and I'll show you around!

This is the chemist that I wrote about last Monday.
The entrance has been refurbished
On 20th April 1933 Niebüll planted an oak tree that they called the "Hitler Eiche". Some drunken oaths urinated on it and it died; it was quickly replaced with the oak tree seen on the left of this photo.
The library
in it's last life it was a hotel
Another view of the library
The main drag looking towards the Rathaus square
Another look up the main drag
The car belongs to a girl.
I had three of these; they were not as pretty though.
One of my informative photos,
interesting isn't it.
I can't leave without a flower photo

That's it today,
see you all tomorrow xxx
