My Daily Banana

Photo of the Day:

Found this picture on Andrea's chip

Event of the Day:

6th July 1964

The Beatles film A Hard Days Night premiers in London

Shortly after, could be a year after (more than likely) I saw the film in Westerland, Sylt. In Germany the film was called Yeah, Yeah, Yeah and the voices were synchronized, luckily only the talking voices.
Here's the film splitt up in 10 sections: A Hard Days Night
In Germany there will be problems playing the film, because of the Gema and the music rights.

Birthday of the Day:

6th July 1946

Two creeps were born on this day; one became President of the United States of America and followed his father; who started a war against Saddam Hussein in 1990 and the second: one of the ugliest creeps ever born in New York who tried to become an actor; fighting in five(?) boxing films and a series of films where he played a mercenary soldier with amazing weapons that ranged from daggers more deadly than the Bowie Knife and guns that fired every deadly projectile possible.
No picture of these two idiots!

Died on this Day:

6th July 1971

Satchmo, Louis Armstrong dies at the age of seventie-one.
Can you think of a more famous trumpeter? He was also a master in the skill of skat ( that's the art of singing sounds and syllables instead of word text). The first song that comes to mind when I think of him is the late version of What a Wonderful World

Thoughts:

Weekend and lazy, we walked to where we used to live between 1985 and 2001; it was the Domino Discotheque then and now it is a winter disco. In summer it stays closed. Times have changed, back in the eighties and nineties the young people would pilgrimage to the disco. I often heard of youngsters driving more than two hundred kilometers just to visit a dive that was the in place. When we worked in the Domino I sometimes went on a recce in another town sussing out what the others did differently to attract the crowd. I enjoyed that, I could follow my hobby of birdwatching!
My dearest one I caught in the Santa Fee on the island of Sylt back in 1977

Now, a picture show of a warm and flowery summer's day in Niebüll:

The Amtsgericht (Magistrate's Court).
Thirty-nine years ago I was charged of arson and trialed here; I burned a thatched roof house down in Kampen, Sylt, it was an accident while damp-proofing the bathroom.

Thatch the raw material
The circumference of the bundle is the amount of straws that fit under the arm when the fist is placed on the hip.

The Domino as it looks now.
It is now called the Night Life and only opens in the winter months

The house in which we lived sixteen years

Niebüll's Greek restaurant, the Taverne Rhodos
I used to be a regular customer there when we lived next to the Domino; it's only a spit away

Uhlebüller Strasse
The way into town from the north

We stopped at Edeka for a chat and a cup of cappuccino

One cup wasn't enough for me so we also stopped at the Cafe Maus

Now the bloomy part

The path home can be beautiful

And then we were at home,
it took another half hour and it started chucking it down,
summer rain

Bye for today
Are you glad to be home Andrea?
It'll be good for Jerry, now he'll be amongst kids.
