Gruinard Island, Scotland

Officially declared free of Anthrax after 48 years of quarantine
A small island off the south west coast of Scotland. During the Second World War 1942, Britain experimented with methods of Biological Warfare. They used Anthrax on the island not knowing how long it would take to replenish itself. Well it took thirty-eight years. What a proud deed!
See, it pays to read criminal novels, I learned about Gruinard Island from a book written by Ian Rankin, "The Impossible Dead" the second Detective Inspector Fox investigation.

Ride of the day:

Nice and easy, you could say, if you were back alley British "Piece a piss!"
(Oh, 'arold, you are dirty! Anyone remember Steptoe and Son?)
Except for a learning instructor's car that nearly hit me. The instructor himself was driving and stopped only inches away from my left leg. There was no time for shouting a warning, I only managed to get two prayers off, one upstairs to the Almighty and one downstairs to my legs pumping like two steamroller pistons.

Bye for today, more again tomorrow. Keep smiling :-)

I would be thankful for any help with my grammar and spelling, it's not my world.

The Short Version

The fat Sir Falstaff moves to Windsor. The poor man is low on cash so he conjures up a plan in which two wealthy ladies, Mistress Page and Mistress Ford will finance his life. He writes two identical love letters and orders his servants Pistol and Nym to deliver them. They refuse and Falstaff releases them from their duties, in other words, he sacks them. Now they take revenge and tell the husbands of the two beloved ladies of their former masters wishes. Master Ford isn’t bothered, but the jealous Master Page wants to put a stop to Sir Falstaff’s deeds. Using the name Master Brooks he takes on the job as a servant for Sir Falstaff, hoping to spy out his forth doings.

Meanwhile, the ladies have received the love letters and after comparing these they decide to teach Sir Falstaff a lesson.

At the first meeting Master Page came unexpectedly home and the ladies persuade Falstaff to hide in a basket full of dirty and smelly laundry (Buck Basket). The basket was taken out and the contents including Sir Falstaff were emptied into the river. This displeased him, but he didn’t give up.

The second meeting was also a fiasco, as Master Page again came unexpectedly home, Falstaff dressed up in the clothes of "the Fat Lady of Brentford" an obese aunty of Mistress Page. What he didn’t know was that Master Page hated his wife’s aunty, and he was battered and thrown out.

As if that wasn’t enough he met the ladies for a third time. This time the ladies had thought out a plan to ridicule Sir Falstaff before the whole town of Windsor. They got him to dress up as "Herne the Hunter" and asked him to meet them at "ye olde Oak Tree" in Windsor forest. The children of Windsor were dressed as fairies and were told to pinch and burn him. The ladies thought, that’ll teach him a lesson and stop him pestering them.

Among the fairies was Mistress Anne, the daughter of Master and Mistress Page. All three of them had different plans for wedding the maid Anne. Master Page’s favourite was Slender, Mistress Page’s favourite was Dr Caius and their daughters favourite was Felton (unliked by her parents because of his lack of money). When the chaos broke out, as the fairies attacked the poor Sir Falstaff, the two favoured lovers ran off with each a fairy they thought to be Anne and she ran off with her lover Fenton. Later when they all came back Slender complained that the fairy he ran off with was a boy, Dr Caius had the same complaint but unfortunately he had married the boy. Anne and Fenton came home as a newly wedded couple and after Fenton shamed Anne’s parents for trying to marry her against her choice, they received blessings from Master and Mistress Page.

Everyone was forgiven, they has a big get together and lived happily ever after.

My ride of the day:

The weather seems to be getting better every day. That was a brilliant ride, I'm now sat at home and it's raining, luckily when I was on my round it was dry.
What sort of person drives a Hummer? Does he need to prove himself? Has he got a short pimmel? I don't know, I met one on my round, he had to prove his was bigger than mine and cut me off. When I gave him the eye all he could do was give me a load of abuse. Poor sod:-)

The rape is full in blossom

More again tomorrow, have a nice day, be happy:-)

Hermann's Hermits sang the song "I am Henry the VII" in 1965 and topped the American Billboard Hot 100
The original song was "I'm Henery the Eigth, I Am", a British Music Hall song from 1910, written by Fred Murray and R.P. Weston.
(That's what happens when I go to Google, I get too much information)

Ride of the day:

Another day, another twenty-five kilometer. The ride was very similar to yesterday's. What can I expect; I'm always doing the same round? It only differs in the weather, which way round I ride and the people I meet or should I say whizz by. Today there was an Oma, it seems she didn't hear too well, 'cause she carried on in my path even after I rang my bell three or four times (yes, I have a bell on my cyclo-cross racer. I'm not bothered if I'm not cool). She only moved when I spoke to her and that in an unusual way for a cyclist, friendly.

Small Faces frontman died in a fire at his home.

After Steve left the group they joined up with Rod Stewart dropped the Small and called themselves the Faces. I can remember seeing the group in the Top of the Pops back in the seventies, at the time the artists mimed the song being played, but instead of doing this the started kicking a football between themselves. It was a laugh after seeing all the other artists seriously pretending to perform a song. After seeing the video it’s not as brilliant as I can recall.

My ride of the day:

Well the photo is ready, a picture taken yesterday showing how the rape is beginning to glow.
Wrong bicycle though, I was on my cyclo cross. I wanted to take my racer, but I'm too heavy, I'm not going on it until I'm under one hundred kilograms, at the moment the scale stops at one hundered and  one. It was a good ride, the weather was nearly perfect, not much wind (northeast, tree beaufort), the sun was shining and I was fit.

A picture I took when I was doing my round. Guess whose birthday it is? Claas, the names written on the bib, it's hard to read I don't know him but the sculpture was good.

More again tomorrow, have a nice day, be happy:-)
