Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam
I loved his music when he called himself Cat Stevens; my girlfriend at the time Eileen also and my daughters love his album Tea for the Tillerman. His first hit recording came out in 1966 "I Love My Dog"; a catchy tune; it reached #28 in the British charts

A Scottish poet he died at thirty-seven. His best known poem is "Auld Lang Syne" (a version sung by Rod Stewart)
Thoughts:
Today we went to Leck and had a stroll around the village. It's much nicer than I thought; usually I only drive through the village to and from work. It has quiet roads with quaint thatched roof houses and well-built gentry houses. I could imagine living in those areas otherwise it is quite a dump.
Thirty years ago, before perestroika, the village boasted two air-force camps and a few thousand soldiers; today there is only one regiment of soldiers and they don't come into or live in Leck like in the past. In the eighties they even had a strip joint, I remember going in there with Heike and her sister. What a dive; that was a once only visit.
